The Data Premier League aims to give students, early-career analysts and professionals practical experience of working with real cricket datasets. It encourages participants to develop original analytical approaches, models and tools that address meaningful problems in cricket. The hackathon also seeks to build a strong sport analytics community and help participants produce portfolio-ready work for future research and employment.
The Data Premier League (DPL) is a cricket analytics competition in which participants use real match datasets to address practical challenges in the sport. Participants analyse player and team performance, match strategies and other aspects of the game, using coding, statistical analysis, data visualisation and predictive modelling to generate meaningful insights or develop analytical tools. They present their findings and solutions to an expert judging panel, demonstrating the originality, technical quality, practical relevance and effectiveness of their approaches.
